We recognize that smoking poses numerous health risks.
But health also encompasses our mental and emotional relationship to smoking. Meaning the WAY we smoke is just as important as WHAT we smoke. There’s a big difference between smoking because addiction is compelling you, and engaging with it in a mindful way.

Sammy’s Woodland got its start in the heart of the Columbia River Gorge.
Our passion for the landscape and our love of the PNW lifestyle lead us to create a brand that would support our values and use capitalism to have a charitable impact and do good in the world. After the Eagle Creek Wildfire swept through the gorge in 2017 we saw our landscape and our lifestyle dramatically altered.
The impacts of climate change were becoming more and more visible in our communities. We were concerned that the places we loved would become unrecognizable due to the negative environmental impact. And despite the USFS and many others attempts to educate tourists and locals about environmental impact…we kept finding cigarette butts along our favorite trails, even, heartbreakingly, in the middle of wildfire season.
We decided to make a change to the way we smoke.
We started doing our research. We discovered that hemp is an environmentally friendly crop, that may just solve this climate crisis. And that Hemp and CBD are being used to increase the sustainability of all kinds of products. So we figured we could use it solve our sustainable smoking problem.
Corn husk derived biodegradable filters could solve cigarette butt litter, and we could partner with One Tree Planted to plant trees to combat climate change and offset our carbon footprint. After months of finding proper materials, partnerships and talks about what it really takes to create positive impact Sammy’s Woodland Smokes was born.
